Worship
Worship is vital to the worshipping life of the church and it is something that we can do together as we gather together as a community. The worship of God comes out of our values as a church and as followers of Christ. We want to worship God with our whole lives. On Sunday mornings we come together as a community of believers to express together our love for the living God and say that we worship Him with our whole lives. John Wimber, the founder of the Vineyard Churches, said this about worship, “Everything comes from God, but worship comes from us and goes back to God.” Worshipping God is an awesome privilege as we come together as His people, stopping our busy lives to recognize how amazing God really is. It is often when we “give back to God” through the simple words of a song that we connect with God on a deeper level and find we experience his presence in a real way. A guest at one of our services described his experience this way, “I really sensed something holy was happening”. How we worship is really important to us as a church. We don’t just want to sing songs about God. We want to sing worship songs to God as an expression of the deep longings and feelings that are in our hearts. We want to come to God honestly and simply in our worship of Him. We aim to have worship in all capacities of our community life, whether it’s a small group, youth event, children’s ministry, a training event, or a prayer meeting. We have two different worship bands that share the worship leading for our Sunday services and we are currenly developing a band for our Vineyard Kids Church. We also have many who lead worship in their small groups. There is a monthly worship jam session for those who would like to explore becoming involved in worship. All musicians and singers welcome. PrayerPrayer underpins everything we do. We desire to seek God’s heart and God’s agenda for our church and our lives. Praying together as a community and praying as individuals is vital to all we do and all that we are. It expresses our deep desire to know our heavenly Father's heart and to participate in helping to establish His Kingdom - His rule and reign - in our lives, in our church and in our city. We currently have corporate quarterly prayer meetings and a time of prayer each Sunday morning at 10:00am as a group of people pray before our service begins. We also end our service by giving anyone who would like, an opportunity to receive prayer. Our small groups make prayer an important part of meeting together and make space at meetings for people to give and receive prayer. |
