Meeting at the entrance to the Avoca Restuarant @ 10.30am a short distance from the Parking Lot, taking a leisurely walk, in the shadow of Malahide Castle’s West Wing. This lush grass and woodland is a paradise for photographers, and has some of the best views of the castle from the walk. Its easy walking on paths and the route is approximately 3 km which will end back at the Restaurant, where those who would like, could stop in for a bite to eat or a well deserved ice cream.
Nature lovers can find rare trees from all over the world. Look out for the famous Cedar of Lebanon, Tasmanian pencil pines and Chinese Ginkgo trees.
Meeting at the start of The East Pier of Dún Loaghaire Harbour @ 10.30am, this is a popular place for walks in the cool ocean breeze taking in the beauty of the area . There are often sailing activities to watch and perhaps you could even see a seal in the waters.
The pier boasts a Victorian shelter and bandstand that was first constructed in 1890 and has undergone extensive renovations the first of which was back in 2004
The East Pier is a popular 2.6 Km walking path with a smooth concrete and seashell surface and granite walls and offers fantastic views of Dún Laoghaire and the Irish sea. There are also plenty of food vendors to grab a snack or ice cream from after the walk.
Meeting at the main parking in St. Cathrine’s Park @ 10.30 am just outside Lucan Co.Dublin, This exotic trail winds through an old woodland and is a very enjoyable walk meandering between the trees and then alongside the gushing waters of the Liffey river. The woodland trail is easy to follow.
This 3.7-km walk is generally considered an easy route with an elevation gain of 70m , and takes an average of 54 min to complete. You will need runners or hiking shoes for this one , and a part of the loop meanders through the wonderful woodlands of the Lucan Demense for a refreshing forrest walk.
The loop takes you back to the parking where there is a large playground for the children to enjoy them selves
